Suspect Arrested in Fatal Shooting at 10201 Telephone Road #119 February 2, 2010 - Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 10201 Telephone Road #119 about 4 a.m. today. The suspect, Maria Rangel Garcia De La Paz (H/f, DOB: 1-12-80), is charged with murder in the 180th State District Court. She is charged in the shooting death of Jose Manuel Gonsales, 29, of the above address. HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Anthony and Senior Police Officers D. Arnold and R. Chappell reported: Mr. Gonsales and the suspect, De La Paz, lived together at the above address. About 4 a.m. this morning (Feb. 2), De La Paz called 911 to report that someone had shot her husband. De La Paz told responding officers three masked men were responsible for Gonsales’ fatal shooting. However, she later confessed to killing her boyfriend and hiding the gun in a nearby dumpster. The gun was recovered. De La Paz told police she shot Gonsales because he had been abusive.
