July 03, 2012 - Houston police are investigating the near drowning of a child at 10502 1/2 Plain Field Street about 5:45 p.m. Monday (July 2).
The female victim, 5, is in critical condition at Texas Children's Hospital.
HPD Homicide Division Senior Police Officer K. Carr reported:
The victim and her family were celebrating a birthday party at the Braeburn Valley West Home Owner's Association club house swimming pool at the above address. There were several adults and children in the pool, along with two lifeguards on-duty during the incident. The victim was in three feet of water when she drifted toward the eight foot deep section and became distressed. One of the lifeguards saw her and immediately entered the water to assist her. She was then pulled out of the water by the lifeguards who performed CPR. Houston Fire Department emergency personnel responded and transported the victim to the hospital where she remains in the pediatric intensive care unit.
The investigation is continuing.
