HPD Investigative First Responder Division Officer D. Crowder reported:

Mr. Kennedy was picked up by Johnson and taken to an ATM at the Wells Fargo Bank at the above address.  Johnson threatened the victim with a knife and forced him to withdraw funds from the ATM.  When Kennedy did not withdraw funds, Johnson attempted to take his wallet, at which point a struggle ensued and Johnson stabbed Kennedy multiple times.  Witnesses overheard the suspect yelling that he was going to kill Kennedy.  Johnson then fled in a waiting Mercury Grand Marquis in an unknown direction.  Kennedy was left in the bank's drive-through lanes.  He was transported by paramedics to Memorial Hermann Hospital and treated for his wounds.

On December 19, 2012, surveillance video of the suspect was released on the HPD You Tube channel at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEk22auxnp4&feature=youtu.be.

A Crime Stoppers tip was received and led to the identification and arrest of Johnson on Thursday (Jan. 24) without incident.
