UPDATE: Suspect Arrested, Charged in 2008 Cold Case Fatal Shooting at 10200 Sugar Branch

April 22, 2015 - Investigators in the Houston Police Department Homicide Division Cold Case Unit have identified a suspect in the fatal shooting of a man at 10200 Sugar Branch about 11:20 p.m. on July 22, 2008.
The suspect, Ronnie Rollins (b/m, 34), is in custody and now charged with murder in the 176th State District Court.  A photo (non-HPD) of Rollins is attached to this news release.

The victim, David Metoyer, 18, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants J. Rubio and P. LeBlanc and Senior Police Officers M. Kral and T. Tyler reported:

Mr. Metoyer was at a family party at the Forum Park III apartments at 10211 Sugar Branch and intended to ride his bicycle to an area corner store to purchase some items when he was shot multiple times while on a sidewalk.
At the time of the shooting, there were no known witnesses nor suspect(s).

Recently, while conducting a cold case review, a witness and possible suspect were identified.  After interviewing the witness, enough information was gathered to identify Rollins as the suspect who shot Metoyer during an argument.

Rollins was charged today (April 22) with murder.  Currently, he is incarcerated in Louisiana's Angola State Prison.  Investigators said Metoyer and Rollins were acquaintances.

NOTE: Investigators are not available for interviews at this time.
