Investigation into Fatal Crash at 700 West Loop North
July 28, 2015 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 700 West Loop North (West Interstate Highway 610 North) about 7 a.m. last Friday (July 24).
The identity of the deceased male victim, 70, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Officer T. Tran reported:
The victim was driving a tan Ford Explorer northbound on the 610 West Loop and entering the ramp to the Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) when his vehicle struck the left side retaining wall on the ramp. Paramedics transported the driver to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
It is believed the man died of natural causes or a medical episode that contributed to the crash. There was minor damage to the Explorer and no apparent trauma to the victim.
The investigation is continuing.
