Investigation into Fatal Crash at 6100 Southwest Freeway

December 15, 2025 - Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 6100 Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) about 2:15 a.m. on Saturday (December 13).

The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Barrow and Officer V. Taylor reported:

Witnesses told officers that a black Mazda 6 was disabled or not moving on the freeway and did not have any hazard lights on. A white Isuzu tow truck was traveling southbound on the freeway, at posted speeds, when it struck the back of the Mazda. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the driver of the Mazda deceased at the scene.

The male driver, 23, of the tow truck showed no signs of impairment. He was questioned and released.

The investigation is ongoing.
