Investigation into Shooting Incident at 10500 Mykawa Road
July 21, 2025 - Houston police are investigating the shooting of an HPD officer and subsequent shooting of an armed suspect at 10500 Mykawa Road about 11:35 p.m. on July 17.
The suspect, Bobby Jose Alvarado, 36, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault of a peace officer in the 487th State District Court. A booking photo of Alvarado, who is in the hospital, is not available at this time.
The wounded officer, Sergeant P. George was transported to an area hospital in stable condition where he was treated and released. The sergeant discharged his duty weapon in the incident. He was sworn in as an HPD officer in February 1997 and is assigned to the Southeast Patrol Division.
HPD Sergeant K. Burch who also discharged his duty weapon, was not injured in the incident. He was sworn in as an HPD officer in April 2014 and is also assigned to the Southeast Patrol Division.
HPD Special Investigations Unit Detectives M. Estep, V. Lewis, and J. Windham reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a call for service regarding a suspicious person with a weapon. Officers located an individual matching the provided description walking in the roadway in the 10500 block of Mykawa Road. As officers exited their patrol vehicle, the suspect opened fire, striking one of the officers. Officers returned fire, striking the suspect. Officers provided life-saving measures to both the officer and the suspect.
The officer and suspect were transported to area hospitals in stable conditions.
As is customary in HPD officer-involved shooting incidents in the city limits, the case is being investigated by the HPD Special Investigations Unit, the Internal Affairs Division and the Harris County District Attorney's Office.
