Investigation into Fatal Crash at 13500 East Freeway
July 21, 2025 - Houston police are investigating the fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred at 13500 East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) about 11:25 p.m. on Saturday (July 19).
The identity of the deceased female, 43, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Richards and Officer C. Moralez reported:
The driver of a white Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling eastbound at the above address when there was a disturbance inside the vehicle causing the driver to pull over on to the shoulder of the freeway. A passenger exited the vehicle and walked onto a moving lane of traffic.
A black Honda Pilot, traveling eastbound on the freeway, struck the pedestrian. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the pedestrian deceased.
The female driver of the Honda, Morgan Lindsey Stabell, 32, was determined to be impaired and was subsequently arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated in Harris County Criminal Court #4.
The investigation into the crash is continuing.
