Investigation into Fatal Shooting at 1806 Saddle Rock Drive

May 21, 2025 - The fatal shooting of a man at 1806 Saddle Rock Drive about 12:45 a.m. Tuesday (May 20) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.

The identity of the deceased male suspect, 23, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The male shooter, 28, was not injured.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant C. LaFour and Detective G. Zavala reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and found a male unresponsive in the front yard with more than one gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.

Officers learned the male found unresponsive had arrived at the residence in a silver SUV, exited the vehicle and started damaging property. The male and another individual then forced entry into the residence and there was an exchange of gunfire between the suspect and a male occupant of the residence. The suspect was struck. No one else was injured. The individuals inside the home called 911. Detectives learned the suspect was previously in a dating relationship with someone inside the residence.

A witness informed officers that the silver SUV involved in the shooting incident had fled the scene. Officers located the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, however, the driver evaded, initiating a pursuit. The driver was later taken into custody without incident.

After consulting the Harris County District Attorney's Office, it was determined the shooting incident would be referred to the Harris County grand jury.

The driver of the vehicle, Zachary Michael Patterson, 19, is charged with burglary with intent to commit assault and evading arrest in a motor vehicle in the 180th State Court. A booking photo of Patterson is attached to this news release.
