Surveillance Photo of Wanted Suspect in Fatal Shooting at 2200 W. Bellfort
May 27, 2025 - Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of an armed male suspect by an HPD officer at 7800 Hammerly Boulevard that occurred about 3:40 p.m. on Friday (May 23).
The identity of the deceased male suspect, 64, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Officer K. Gideon, who discharged his duty weapon, was not injured in this incident. Officer Gideon is assigned to the Northwest Patrol Division and was sworn in as an officer in October 2022.
HPD Special Investigations Unit Detectives A. Henderson and K. Vu reported:
Officers responded to a report of a trespasser at a nearby business strip and were told by security at the location that a male suspect, armed with a bat, had refused to leave the property. The security officer stated the suspect had assaulted him with the bat earlier in the day.
HPD officers located the suspect nearby and attempted to make contact with him. However, the suspect began to wield a baseball bat at the officers in an attempt to strike them and refused to comply with officers' verbal commands in English and in Spanish.
As is customary in HPD officer-involved shooting incidents in the Houston city limits, this case is being investigated by the HPD Special Investigations Unit, the Internal Affairs Division and the Harris County District Attorney's Office.
