Dance Halls

Form: Dance Hall Application (updated August 2025)

Requirements: Applicants must:

  • Complete a Criminal History Background Check (https://bit.ly/2Rtin1W)
  • Obtain a Certificate of Occupancy from the Public Works & Engineering Department, Code Enforcement Section
  • A copy of the City of Houston Fire Permit (P2 – Assembly Place).
  • A copy of the Food Dealers Permit from the Houston Health Department, if applicable.
  • A copy of the establishments dress code. The dress code must be posted in compliance with Sec 5-80.
  • Submit Dance Hall Application (updated August 2025) with a copy of a valid government issued I.D. to ARA for processing. Application can be turned in 2-5 business days after completing the background check.
  • Pay appropriate fees (see schedule)
  • Apply for any other applicable City permits or license

The location must be reviewed and approved by the Fire, Public Works & Engineering, and Health Departments prior to the issuance of the permit. There is a 4 to 6 week time frame for completion of this review. Once location has been approved and meets all other criteria, ARA will notify applicant to pick-up permit.
