MWSBE Participation Goals: New Opportunities for Houston Businesses
The City of Houston’s Office of Business Opportunity (OBO) is committed to ensuring that Houston’s business community remains informed about important updates that impact participation in City contracting opportunities. This presentation provides an overview of recent updates to the City’s Minority, Women, and Small Business Enterprise (MWSBE) Program and explains how these changes affect contractors, subcontractors, and small businesses seeking to do business with the City of Houston.
The presentation highlights several important updates, including expanded Small Business Enterprise (SBE) participation across all spending categories, updated MWSBE contract participation goals, and new compliance procedures designed to strengthen transparency and accountability in City contracting. These updates reflect the City’s continued commitment to promoting fair competition and increasing access to contracting opportunities for minority, women, and small businesses throughout Houston.
In addition, the presentation introduces new initiatives designed to support business growth and capacity building, including expanded certification opportunities and the launch of new Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB) and Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) certifications. These programs are designed to strengthen Houston’s supplier diversity pipeline and create additional pathways for qualified businesses to participate in City projects.
