City of Houston Public Alert: ParkHouston Fraudulent Texts
January 17, 2025 -- The City of Houston urges the public to be aware of a parking payment scam involving fraudulent texts sent to cell phones. These fraudulent texts link to a non-City-affiliated website or a fake vendor.
The text message demands payment for unpaid parking invoices and late fees. The City of Houston's parking authority, ParkHouston, does not send text messages for unpaid parking invoices, fines, or fees.
ParkHouston does engage a delinquent collections vendor that sends text messages to customers with delinquent citations; however, these texts and emails inform the customer the message is on behalf of the City of Houston and includes an option to opt out of messaging and or/emails.
Below is a screenshot of the fraudulent text message. Anyone who receives the message should delete the text and block the sender.
