Proposed Amendments to Chapter 45 Related to Motor-Assisted Scooters
The City of Houston is proposing amendments to Chapter 45 of the Code of Ordinances, relating to motor-assisted scooters. The City has the authority to regulate motor-assisted scooters on public roadways, streets, alleys, sidewalks, and city parks within City limits. The intention of the amendments, which establishes a scooter-free zone, is to reduce safety hazards, prevent public nuisances, and align with the City’s long-term vision for a safer and more pedestrian-friendly community.
The proposed amendments will be discussed at the upcoming Quality-of-Life Committee meeting on July 24, 2025, at 10 a.m. The meeting will be held in the Anna Russell Council Chambers located on the 2nd Floor of City Hall, 901 Bagby Street, Houston, 77002. The meeting is open to the public and will include an opportunity for public comment related to the items presented during that meeting.
