Engineering Designs
When major City projects are being planned and built—such as water systems or public facilities—engineers create drawings that show how the work will be designed and constructed. These drawings evolve over time as the project moves from concept to final design.
One important step in this process is the development of percent completion drawings. These drawings represent the design at specific stages (for example, 30%, 60%, 90%, and final). Uploading and sharing them serves several important purposes:
1. Transparency
By uploading percent completion drawings, the public can see how the project is progressing. This helps ensure that the planning and design process is open and accountable.
2. Collaboration
Percent completion drawings allow engineers, contractors, City staff, and other stakeholders to review the work at different stages. This helps identify potential issues early, reduce errors, and make sure the project meets community needs.
3. Efficiency
Sharing updated drawings throughout the design process saves time and resources. Instead of waiting until the design is complete to make changes, feedback can be incorporated at each stage.
4. Accuracy and Quality
Uploading these drawings helps maintain a clear record of the project’s evolution. Each version shows how the design is being refined, ensuring that the final plans are thorough, accurate, and ready for construction.
